Sporting clubs have a rich history in Australia, and none more than in Queensland, where we are proud to punch above our weight in competitive and community spirit.

However, most sports in Australia didn't start in clubs, they started in streets, backyards and parks, just like our Gibson Park. A patch of green where friends could engage in the spirit of friendly competition.

As the love for play in our great country swelled, so did the ambition of those to make it accessible to everyone and the clubs we enjoy today were born. Sports now play an even more central role in our lives, keeping us active, bringing new and old friends together and uniting all Australians when we take on the world.

While we celebrate the community of sport, we should never forget its humble beginnings. And, while new owners bring life back into this great club, it wouldn’t have existed without this patch of green being dedicated to play.
